This guide is a collaborative resource made by HCC Libraries for people seeking relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. It also serves as a helpful guide for people who want to offer helpful information or are seeking volunteer opportunities.

Counseling/Mental Health Services


  • HCC Counselors: Licensed professionals (and counseling interns) provide personal counseling, community referral, & crisis intervention. HCC Counselors will be available to make classroom visits per request and meet with students individually. List of HCC Counselors link.
  • HCC Financial Coaches: Connect students to on-campus & community resources to help with financial emergencies, etc. List of HCC Coaches link.
  • Disaster Help Line for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA)
    • Crisis hotline for emotional and psychological support for victims of natural disasters: 1-800-985-5990

    • This helpline has accommodations in place for Spanish Speakers and Deaf/Hard of Hearing. Visit their site to read the details.

  • Disaster Support Groups: Support groups are a great way to talk to other survivors, seek help/tips/resource, and get specific Houston Flooding news.

      • Search for your local HOA’s or subdivision group

      • Search for for “Houston Flood 2015 & Beyond: support & Resource” group. Group has an extensive collection of resources under “Files”.

    • Depression & Bipolar Support Alliance: provides free support for those living with and those friends and family of those living with depression and bipolar disorders
