About the Research Guides

For some general help getting started with research, check out our Research Quickstart Guide. The resources listed on the Learn How page and on the Library Tutorials page may be helpful.

You will need a valid HCC library barcode in order to use some of the online sources listed in the guides. If you are unable to login to these resources, use our Off-Campus Database page for help, or simply fill out a Get My Barcode form to activate your patron record each semester.

Be sure and Evaluate the information you locate online and and in print.

As you proceed with your research projects, you are always encouraged and welcome to Ask a Librarian for assistance. Chat service is available M-Th, and Sunday evenings. Our email service promises a reply within 24 hours on weekdays.

Would you like to request a new research guide? Use this form. HCC faculty, staff, and students may request a guide which will be created as time permits. Librarians who request a guide will be notified within a day or two that their template is ready.
