How to Login From Home

Many of the HCCS Library databases have restricted access. When you try to access any of the databases listed here from off-campus, a logon page will open. You must provide your name and library barcode number. Please activate your barcode at the circulation desk each semester or by using the Get My Barcode form.

An example:

The front of an HCC E-Card example

If you have this card, use your name as it appears on the front of the card. . . And the lengthy barcode number that appears on the back. If the letter A appears on your card as a part of your barcode number, do not enter it here. Just the numbers!

If you have a grey library card, use the barcode number that appears on the front of that card.

Problems logging in? Check out these troubleshooting tips:

Is your card current and activiated?

You must activiate your library barcode each semester you attend HCC. If you're not sure if your barcode is activated, contact any of the HCCS Campus Libraries.

Do you have overdue items?

You'll have to get that fixed. To use your barcode, you'll have to have a clear record. A clear record is one with no holds, no overdue library books, no errors in the record, and no duplicate record. To find out if your record is clear, contact any of the HCCS Campus Libraries.

Are you making a common login mistake?

Have you typed in your name exactly as it appears in your library record? (You can verify how your name appears in library records by contacting any of the HCCS Campus Libraries.)

Are caps locked on your keyboard? They should not be locked when you're logging into the databases.

Are numbers locked on your computer's number pad? The numbers should be locked when you're logging into the databases.

Are you including the letter A (or another letter) in your barcode?

Some newer HCC student IDs have a letter before (or after) the barcode number. Do not include this when trying to login to the databases from off-campus!
