TexShare
What does TexShare mean to you?
Under a statewide program called TexShare, current HCCS employees and students can receive a TexShare card that will allow them to borrow onsite materials from any TexShare participating academic or public library in the state. The type and number of items that can be borrowed is determined by the lending library and is usually limited to books. Borrowed materials must be returned directly to the lending library. HCCS libraries can not accept or return TexShare items from non HCCS libraries. Among the local libraries participating are all University of Houston campuses and Texas Southern University. Rice University does not participate in the borrowing program.
To obtain a TexShare card, you must have an active HCCS library barcode and apply for a card either in person at one of the HCCS library locations or online. You should sign the card when you receive it. You must display the card to check out materials at a TexShare participating library. Card privileges are active only for the duration of the semester in which you received the card. You must apply for a new card each semester you are enrolled. Overdue TexShare materials will result in a suspension of library borrowing privileges and can ultimately produce a hold on your HCCS records resulting in an inability to register for classes and obtain your grades and transcripts.
