Culinary & Pastry Arts: Houston Historical Cookbook Collection

Focuses on culinary and baking news, research, techniques, cooking skills and Houston restaurants. The library provides for the Houston Community College Culinary Baking & Pastry Arts program.

About Us

This rare, small cookbook collection dates back to 1920 and is comprised from organizations, businesses and churches where members gathered recipes from family & community and turned them into published cookbooks. These cookbooks share a narrative of early Houston residents and the communities they lived in and cooking traditions they practiced back then and in many cases still practice today. What better way to learn how cooking influenced culture, politics, education, religion than through the foods we prepared. These rare treasures serve as preservation and documentation of the culinary heritage of Houston and select areas.
