How to Search for Ebooks and Books
There are a number of ways to locate print books and ebooks available in the HCC Libraries' collection.
- Search the Library Catalog for print books and ebooks
- Eagle Library Search includes both print books and ebooks in search results.
- You can use an individual database, such as EBSCO Ebook Collection, to search for ebooks.
How to Use Books for an Argument Essay
Books can be excellent sources of information for an argument essay.
Some books are a good introduction to a topic because they offer a broad overviews of the subject. If you are new to your research subject, or are not sure about the argument points you want to make, try looking for a book like this.
For example, Climate Change: What Everyone Needs to Know offers an overview of climate change, including the science behind it, the rise of clean energy technologies, how governments are responding, and climate change's affect on weather.
Other books can be more specialized and are more specific in how they approach a topic. Look for books that match your research questions, or for books that provide information that supports your thesis statement.
Continuing with the climate change example, if you are interested in learning about how the travel industry and tourism is affected by climate change, this book titled Climate Change and Tourism may be helpful.
