About this Guide
This Resource Guide has been created to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, one of the largest storm events to hit the Houston area with unprecedented flooding. You will find information for those who are in need of help, for those who want to help those recovering from the storm, as well as information important to HCC students.
*Compiled from information from:
FEMA's Hurricane Harvey Snapshot (released Sept. 3, 2017)

Harvey Fact vs. Fiction
During and after the storm, a lot of rumors and false information spread around. Here are some examples of such incidents during Hurricane Harvey and ways you can combat fake news.
For more information about combating fake news and evaluating information sources, check out the HCC Library guide on Evaluating Sources
Be extremely cautious when completing applications to help, volunteer, or donate. You should not have to pay a company for these services. Always verify and check all links before providing personal information.
Be careful if you have to pay for any help or for any application fees. Most assistance organizations will not require this.
