"“It’s not just about cultivating crucial teamwork skills, it’s also about using teamwork as a highly effective learning tool. My confusion happened 30 years ago, while my students’ confusion happened 30 seconds ago. Hence fellow students can often clear up classmates’ misconceptions much quicker than I can. Everyone benefits from team interactions: students learn deeper when they teach others, while those needing the help feel more supported, are more likely to ask questions in class, and often form beneficial study groups outside of class.”

"Teamwork in the college classroom is about negotiating meaning around a shared task or objective in a process that's both productive and regenerative--true analytical magic happens when students collaborate in a discussion, assignment or project and play off each other's strengths and come to some consensus, however provisional. Creating a space for that to happen is our most important job as instructors. If we do it right, they experience a collaborative classroom culture that they can build on and replicate elsewhere."
