Paralegal Technology: Reference Sources

This is a guide of selected sources that support the Paralegal Technology program at Houston Community College.

Purpose of Reference Sources

Reference sources are tools crammed with information, designed to be used quickly for locating answers, facts, dates, persons, places, events, and etc.  Reference sources are not intended to be read from cover to cover like most books and textbooks. Students generally can only use reference sources inside of the library and these sources are kept mainly in the reference section of the library. Example of reference sources are dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, anthologies, almanacs, bibliographies, indexes, atlases, concordances and directories.

Accessing Library Resources off-campus

In order to access most of our electronic resources off campus, request printed material and place books on hold, you will be required to enter your first and last name and the 14 digit library barcode number printed on the back of your HCC student ID card.  For additional information about this process, click here.
