Artificial Intelligence & Academic Integrity

This webinar is designed to be an introduction into best practices for using artificial intelligence tools. The webinar will be tailored to students, but attendance is open to others (faculty, staff) wanting an introduction to this important and timely topic. Please register by clicking on the link below for the date and time that works best for you. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. The dates offered for this semester are -

HCC Student Handbook on AI

Currently, the HCC Board Policy addresses the student use of artificial intelligence twice within the 2024-25 HCC Catalog & Student Handbook, falling under Student Rights, Responsibilities, & Regulations. (Section) 5 Academic Integrity

“Cheating“ shall include, but shall not be limited to: 

  • The unauthorized use of Artificial Intelligence (AI);"

In addition to this, they write:

"“Plagiarism“ shall be defined as the appropriating, buying, receiving as a gift, or obtaining by any means another’s work and the unacknowledged submission or incorporation of it in one’s own work including the unauthorized use of work generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI)."

Students: if you are unsure whether AI or GAI may be used in your assignments, it's critical that you review your course syllabi and discuss your concerns with your course professor as authorized allowances will vary by course and instructor.
