Comic Books and Graphic Novels

Books are often banned because of a desire to censor content that is considered graphic or inappropriate. Comics and graphic novels are often contested because of the way they handle violence, profanity, sex or nudity, drugs or alcohol, and political or religious topics through visual imagery. However, libraries exist to provide access to a range of materials, including banned materials. Like the American Library Association, we oppose censorship. We invite you to explore the comic book and graphic novel collections at HCC with a critical and curious eye. Below is a list of banned comics available in the HCC library system. Click on a book cover to access it using the library catalog.
