This LibGuide is based on the most recent publication of the MLA Handbook. In the 9th edition, the Modern Language Association addresses the need to more easily site the growing number of formats of sources and media that are emerging in the digital age. These guidelines focus on a set of standards that can be applied to ANY source, making it adaptable to the many ways students encounter information in the 21st century.
When citing a source, fill in the blank elements of this template to form a citation.
Review the source carefully to determine which elements will be represented in its citation. Most sources will not have all elements in their citations. See the dropdown menu under Elements of a Citation to learn more.
