The HCC Digital Access Centers (DAC) have 150 Laptops available for current HCC students to check out and use at the Digital Access Center. There are 15 laptops available for check out at each of the ten Digital Access Centers.
- HCC current full- and part-time students are eligible to borrow a DAC laptop.
- Students must have a current HCC Student ID card or a government issued ID card and their W-number.
- DAC laptop checkouts are first come, first served.
- DAC laptops are checked out for two hours. If the DAC is closing in less than two hours at the time of checkout, the laptop is due 15 minutes before closing.
- DAC laptops may not be taken out of the DAC.
- Students who fail to return DAC laptops on time can lose their eligibility to check out DAC laptops.
- Students may only have one DAC laptop checked out at a time.
- Students with a current hold on their record for an overdue, lost or damaged laptop, Chromebook, or hotspot cannot check out a DAC laptop.
- DAC laptops must be returned without damage. Repair or replacement costs for damaged laptops will be charged to the borrower.
- The charge for a DAC laptop will be $724 and a $10 processing fee.
- The charge for a power cord will be $25 and a $10 processing fee.
- The cost of a replacement screen is $179.00.
- All work must be saved to an online storage service such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or similar.
- Do not attempt to reset the device. If you feel that you may have personal information on the laptop, we can assist you with removing it when we check it in.
The borrower is responsible for reporting the loss, damage, or theft of the laptop immediately by completing the
Reporting Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Device form. In addition, the borrower should contact the library and return damaged items, if applicable. At that time, library staff and HCC IT will determine any fees.
