LibChat Guide

LibChat is a tool to interact virtually with our students, faculty, and staff. This guide will walk you through the steps to use LibChat successfully. There are several blue links throughout this guide that link directly to a help guide from SpringShare. Clicking any of these links will open a new tab that provides more detailed information. If you are new to LibChat, we also have a recorded webinar hosted by one of our HCC librarians that shows how we use the service and provides some helpful tips. 

1. Log into your LibAnswers account.
2. Click "Go Chat" in the top right of the screen next to your profile image. A new tab will open and you will be online and ready to answer chat requests.
   
3. The default status in chat is "online." If you step away from your computer, be sure to set your status to "away" or select "offline" to log out of chat completely. The status options are in the top left corner.
