Begin Research

Begin Research – Self-paced Tutorial

Begin Research is a set of online tutorials that students can work through in order to gain library and information literacy skills. The modules contain self-check progress quizzes and exercises and a scored, 5-question Exit Quiz. If a student includes instructor name when registering for the Exit Quiz and scores an 80% or above, that instructor will receive an email with the student's name and completion information.

Additionally, there is a version of Begin Research that integrates with Canvas. You can read more about this Canvas Commons module by clicking here.  You can see other library tutorials on the topic of plagiarism linked in this LibGuide

Library Instruction Webinars

HCC Librarians facilitate live, pre-scheduled online instruction webinars for all HCC students! Several different sessions are currently offered throughout the semester -  topics may include, General Career Research, Fake News, MLA, APA, and Chicago Style Help and Using HCC Library Databases to Find Journal Articles and more. Each one-time session lasts about 60 to 90 minutes and is a chance for our students to get to know the HCC libraries and librarians in an environment that is not class or instructor specific. This is a great extra credit opportunity! Attendance is taken and we can notify you of a student's attendance if this information is given at registration.

Just click on the Schedule & Registration tab on this guide for more information.
