Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

"Is it okay if I can't attend every discussion?"

Yes! Attend when you can. The more active participants in attendance, the more rewarding the experience is for everyone. If you've received a sponsored book copy, we ask that you attend at least half of the discussion meetings.

"Do I need to buy the book?"

No, not necessarily. Eight free copies are available to the first eight qualifying members. HCC students and employees may request a copy (with priority for student participation).

Also, HCC Library owns a print copy to borrow. If your HCC options are exhausted, check out your nearby public libraries. They all own copies, too. Public library cards are free if you are a resident of the community served and can provide a valid photo ID.

Houston Public Library (9 copies in multiple formats)

Harris County Public Lbrary (5 copies in multiple formats)

Fort Bend County Libraries (4 print copies)

Montgomery County Memorial Library System (7 copies in different editions)

If you prefer to own the book title, used and new copies can be found at Half-Price Books (HPB), Kaboom Books, Blue Willow Book Shop, Katy Budget Books (KBB), Murder by the Book, and many other local and online book stores.

If you need library assistance or would like to inquire about the TexShare program, please Chat with an HCC Librarian for help. [WorldCat entry]

If free book copies and library book copies are no longer available, please contact Organizer Raquel Donahue at raquel.donahue@hccs.edu for assistance, especially if this presents a financial barrier to your desired participation. We will do our best to address that need.
