Why Do I Need a Call Number?
Call numbers are arranged in alpha-numeric order and are usually based on subject, author's last name, and date of publication.
The call number is the book’s address in a library. Follow these steps to find a book on the shelf:
- Find the library name and collection in the Location box.
- Click the location and collection link to learn where it is and how to contact the library staff for more information.
- Make sure that the item is available for checkout. The Status box should say "Check shelf".
- When you get to the correct HCC library, check signs on the bookshelves for call number locations.
Try it out. Place the call numbers on the books in the correct order, left to right.
