Fact versus Opinion

"When forming personal convictions, we often interpret factual evidence through the filter of our values, feelings, tastes, and past experiences. Hence, most statements we make in speaking and writing are assertions of fact, opinion, belief, or prejudice. Avoiding Plagiarism in PSYCH Essays

Sometimes, students end up plagiarizing, because they do not understand the topic or the writing assignment. Remember, plagiarism has nothing to do with intent, so a student might plagiarize without meaning to do it. These handouts can help you avoid plagiarism in essays for your PSYCH course(s). Psychology Literature Review -- Tips
The following tips may differ from your instructor’s directions; however, they are basic tips to help you organize a psychology literature review. If there is a difference, always do what your instructor requests.
Understanding a Topic (PPT)
College professors use different kinds of writing assignments to serve a purpose. Their purpose is embedded in the topic. Sometimes, the words topic and writing assignment mean the same thing. This PowerPoint can help you understand a topic and a writing assignment.
Common Knowledge versus Plagiarism
Not understanding what information is common knowledge and what should be cited is a primary reason why some students inadvertently plagiarize. This handout includes explanations, examples, and links to outside sources to help you understand these differences.
