Library Shelfie Day or Week

Objective:  Students will be able to take selfies in front of bookshelves which makes them a “shelfie”.  Library Shelfie Day is typically the last Wednesday in January.

Why:  It gets students into the library as well as potentially providing student produced material on social media.

Supplies:  photo booth props (optional)

How To:

There are typically three types of shelfies:

  • Picture of a bookshelf
  • Selfie in front of a bookshelf
  • Book Face – a book cover with a face or another part of anatomy taking the place of that part of your body

When students post their pictures to their social media accounts, ask them to use hashtags #LibraryShelfie and your school or library hashtag.

Things to Think About:

Props can be from the dollar store or a thrift store
